Neil Brown Ocean Sensors, Inc. was founded in 2003 by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) scientist Ray Schmitt and WHOI engineers Bob Petitt and Neil Brown to develop a new generation of Conductivity-Temperature-Depth sensor technology suited to the unique requirements of mobile ocean platforms. NBOSI has since delivered hundreds of sensors to researchers and vehicle manufacturers around the world. Our sensors are offered as standard equipment by market-leading AUV manufacturers.
Neil Brown was a pioneer in the electronic measurement of temperature, salinity and velocity in the ocean. Over a career spanning more than 60 years he developed and commercialized novel instrument systems that formed the foundation of modern observational physical oceanography.
